SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – When you are driving along US50 near Stateline, you can’t help but notice the 150 beautiful wind sculptures twirling in the wind. These wind sculptures, located just outside of the Marcus Ashley Gallery, are just an example of the beautiful artwork that is available at the gallery. In addition to the wind sculptures, the gallery offers stunning landscapes, unique sculptures, and whimsical Dr. Seuss artwork, just to name a few of their art line pieces.
In addition to sharing their deep love of fine art with the community, the Marcus Ashley Gallery also wanted to foster their commitment to the community by hosting a Bread & Broth (B&B) meal to help feed members of the community who are in need. As a first-time Bread & Broth Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsor, the Marcus Ashley Gallery sent an amazing crew to volunteer their time at the Monday Meal held on May 5 at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall. The AAD crew included Hedley Bartel, Marcus Mattila, Autumn Meunier, Lisa Taggart, and Andrea Zepeda.
“This dinner event is such a great thing for the community,” shared Marcus Mattila, co-owner of the Marcus Ashley Gallery. “We are happy to help out and feel blessed to be involved.”
Once the meal service setup was completed and the doors opened to the dinner guests, Marcus helped serve the drinks and desserts while the remainder of his AAD crew was busy on the dinner line serving a hearty meal of a three cheese Rigatoni, roasted green beans with onions, Italian fresh salad, and garlic bread. “To see the smiles of the people being served and all the volunteers helping warms my heart. Community support is key…thanks to all who are involved,” added Marcus.
Helping others in any way is a heart-warming experience and very fulfilling, and often AAD volunteers fill out B&B application forms to help volunteer in the future. Such was the case with Autumn, who wrote. “This is my first time helping with Bread & Broth. What an amazing experience helping and getting to know the community better. I will definitely continue volunteering.” She filled out and turned in her B&B volunteer application before the evening meal was over.
Thank you to the Marcus Ashley Gallery for bringing beautiful art to the community and for sponsoring a meal to bring kindness and caring as another way to nurture fellow community members.
