SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Since 1990, Nichols Consulting Engineers (NCE) has provided innovative, award-winning solutions that use engineering, science, and planning to develop sustainable infrastructure projects and protect the environment. NCE’s work includes transportation improvements, water quality and stormwater projects, and ecological restoration. In addition to its Stateline, Nevada-area office, NCE has offices throughout California and in Reno, Nevada.
Beyond supporting the local environment, the Stateline NCE office team also strives to help vulnerable members of the community where they live and work. On June 17, 2024, NCE sponsored its first Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD), followed by hosting the March 3, 2025 dinner. On July 20, NCE once again sent outstanding team members Nick Bruckbauer, Dylan Karlowicz, Kelly Letak, and Dave Rios to participate in the company’s third AAD sponsorship meal.
In addition to volunteering at the Monday Meal, NCE donated a $350 hosting fee to help cover the cost of providing a hot, restaurant-quality meal to the 126 dinner guests in attendance. Bread & Broth’s early evening dinner hosted by NCE was an outstanding meal. Thanks to Save Mart’s generous donation of tri-tip roasts, the culinary skills of the B&B cooks, the funds provided by NCE, and the efforts of B&B volunteers with assistance from the NCE AAD crew, dinner guests enjoyed a delicious meal.
The perfectly roasted tri-tip was served with mushroom gravy, steak-fried potatoes, roasted broccoli, Caesar salad, and a variety of fancy desserts donated by local grocery stores. Many compliments were shared with the NCE AAD volunteers as they staffed the serving line and with the cooks who prepared this special meal. Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal is more than a place where nutritious food reaches neighbors experiencing hunger. It is also a place where people come together to share community and a sense of common humanity.
